Well, before reading any SEO tips here or anywhere on internet make sure that your blog have not been changed from its default settings about search engine listing. Because it can cause you huge loss of web traffic from search engines.

We generally block those URL’s from search engine listing which we don’t wish to go public. It can be done by the robots.txt file which can be updated in webmasters tools of various search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo.

At default it is almost a blank file it means we are not blocking any of the URL on our blog. Any contains categories, tags, archives & post links. Well, you would never wish to loose your search engine traffic by disabling post links.

Ok, so let’s come back to the point. Your blog if set up on the wordpress no matter self hosted or the regular one, there is default setting you can check it here.

Go To: Dashboard> Options> Privacy settings.

Two options available for you are as follows:

I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines
I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

Now, choose the one you wish too. If you wish that your blog has t list in search engines then ensure that your first option is selected. And if you wish to keep the blog private then second one will do. (I guess no one will do that.)
